Our album with Alvin Lucier

After a seven year wait, we are honoured to announce this Mode Records release featuring Ensemble Offspring and the Australian Art Orchestra performing the music of Alvin Lucier. Together, we commissioned his work Swing Bridge (for pipe organ and ensemble) in a 2015 collaboration for Sydney Festival and Melbourne Town Hall Grand Organ.

The organ is a wonderful vehicle for Lucier’s ideas and, like many of his works, Swing Bridge explores the difference tones produced by two neighbouring notes generating sonically hallucinatory effects. Alvin Lucier sadly passed away in 2021 but we celebrate his legacy and are humbled to have collaborated with a true icon of American experimental and conceptual composition.
