Ngarra-Burria wins Classical:Next Award

The Classical:NEXT Innovation Award raises awareness of forward-thinking projects taking place around the world. After being nominated and shortlisted by the committee of 15 international music journalists and experts, the Ngarra-Burria: First Peoples Composers program is one of the three programs which won the public vote to receive this prestigious award.

The goal of this honorary prize is to raise awareness of innovative activities going on all over the world, and the other recipients in 2022 are Death of Classical (USA) and Orquesta Filarmónica de Medellín (Colombia).

An enormous congratulations goes to Ngarra-Burria Artistic Director Christopher Sainsbury and all partners in this incredible project: ANU School of Music, Moogahlin Performing Arts, Australian Music Centre, ABC, Eora College of TAFE and every First Nations composer who has participated since 2016. We are privileged to have built so many artistic and personal relationships through Ngarra-Burria.
