DESCRIPTION
The Ensemble Offspring Hatched Academy has been an incubator for the Australian music scene for more than a decade, with ‘fledgling’ composers taking flight all over Australia and beyond, bringing fresh ideas and creative excellence to the vanguard of contemporary music.
In this annual showcase at the Sydney Opera House, our Hatched Composer and Emerging Performer programs for 2026 come to fruition, and it’s your chance to discover the Future Classics of Australian art music.
Be the first to hear brand new works from four of our nation’s most innovative young composers, composed especially for Ensemble Offspring under the guidance of 2026 mentor Jack Symonds. Joining our Ensemble Offspring virtuosos on stage: Arkie Moore, this season’s Hatched Emerging Performer, and Emerging Performer alumnus Ronan Apcar.
“Ensemble Offspring may be in the nurturing business but the fledglings in this…mentoring scheme, appropriately monikered ‘Hatched’, are seriously talented youngsters.”
“There’s a grace and elegance to [Remy Le Boeuf’s] compositions, which are filled with memorable melodies and solos that climb to joyful heights.”
“Ensemble Offspring are both giving to the future and also gaining from the energy and delight that these musicians bring to all they do”
“When it comes to championing new music, Ensemble Offspring walks the walk.”
