DESCRIPTION
The Future is being written as we speak. Four fearless new works. Two bold new commissions. A brilliant new performer.
Ensemble Offspring opens a window onto the future of Australian art music, presenting the next-gen of musical voices and unleashing extraordinary talent, fearless ideas and brand new states of sound.
Brisbane violinist Sola Hughes joins us as our 2027 Hatched Emerging Performer, alongside four brand-new works created through the 2027 Hatched Composer Intensive, led by composer and mentor Alice Chance, and a new commission from a recent Hatched alumnus.
This is how Future Classics materialise: freshly minted music, bold ideas and exciting new Australian voices, brought to life by some of the country’s most adventurous young composers and performers in collaboration with Australia’s boldest new music ensemble.
Come and experience the future taking shape - right before your eyes and ears.
“the ultimate test of collaboration… Embedded in pushing artistic boundaries, each cohort creates unique instrumental techniques and notations true to their compositional voice.”
“Ensemble Offspring are both giving to the future and also gaining from the energy and delight that these musicians bring to all they do”
“Ensemble Offspring may be in the nurturing business but the fledglings in this…mentoring scheme, appropriately monikered ‘Hatched’, are seriously talented youngsters.”
“Guidance pays off: this concert is an ode to a passion all grown up.”
“Future Classics reaffirms the importance of supporting new sounds and voices in Sydney’s often reserved musical scene. ”
